Special Features CODY and Mike Reynolds
I showed
Cody last weekend at the Elma AKC agility trial. We failed to qualify
all weekend. That's OK though. If it was easy, everyone would be
doing it. AKC courses are the toughest of all the agility
associations. Cody needs just one qualifying Standard run to get his
Excellent title. I'm going to take a few months off from AKC and we are
going to run in NADAC. The NADAC courses are more open and offer many
more classes. We ran in NADAC over Thanksgiving and we did well.
I keep thinking I'm going to get a Border
Collie but damn it I just love these Cavaliers. When we finally hit our
stride and start being very competitive it will be that much sweeter. I
know a lot of people think a guy running Cavaliers is a little weird
(like I'm a bit feminine......) I don't really care what they think. I
like being known as the Cavalier Guy.
The more I get to know other agility dog
owners I find out more of the inside secrets, which helps. I just have
to pay my dues and keep training. It will come..........
We start next week with our new instructor
Jill Crawford at Argus Ranch. Both Cody and my girl Robyn. I hope to
have Robyn competing by early summer. She is very driven and sassy.
I've seen that the girl Cavaliers typically do much better than the
boys. For example, Cody is very methodical while going through the
weave poles being careful not to bump the poles. Robyn just slams
through hitting each pole like one of those crazed Border Colliies.
Best Regards,
-Mike
Cody - Pensrick Sierra Spirit, CGC, OA, OAJ
Robyn - Full of Malarkey Rockin Robyn
